Basisschool Karel de Grote headerxxl

Primary school Karel de Grote (Charlemagne) is a mainstream multicultural primary school in Eindhoven, Netherlands. They aimed to make even better use of their interior space to work, play and learn together more effectively.

COLOURS

What immediately stands out when you walk through the main hallway is the use of fresh and bright colours. This makes the space inviting for students and makes them feel at home, where they can enjoy working, learning or playing together.

PLAYFUL SHAPES

Finishing touches include the playful shapes and highly-comfortable and creatively-designed sofas, making you feel right at home. Settle down on one of the sofas or opt for a round pouffe around an activity table in one of the Framework houses. You can also choose to sit at a high table on a high stool.

STOWAGE

There are colourful lockers with lockable doors for pupils to stow away their belongings when they don't need them. The bookcases can be used in two ways: open for presentations or closed for creating extra space for other activities. They can also be moved, allowing you to turn any room into a school library in no time.

PLAYHOUSES

There are playhouses with the same look & feel as the Framework houses in which pupils can learn, read or interact with others. For grades 1 and 2, there are also fun and industrially-designed playhouses with kitchenettes for the children to play in.

THE RESULT

The school furniture in these halls matches perfectly with the objective that was set for the new interior design: optimal use of space to create more room for working, playing and learning together.

A word from the client

When I started at Karel de Grote primary school, the previous headmaster had already started a partnership with Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture. A partnership in which they were very involved and where they always thought along with us. The interactions with Jan van Schijndel were particularly pleasant, the educational furnishing specialist who supervised our furnishing project from start to finish, and who was always easy to reach and answered our questions adequately and promptly. In short, it was a pleasure to work with them.

We wanted to give the hallways of our school an overhaul. We also aimed to get the most out of the available space within our school. We needed more room for interacting, playing and learning.

We are very pleased with how it all turned out. The composition of colours we chose are reflected throughout the school, creating a unified look that makes everyone very happy.

The hallways have been completely renewed with a fantastic interior design, which is thanks to not only the team of Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture, but also our students and the staff of Karel de Grote primary school. A process that doesn't happen overnight, but we succeeded due to the effective teamwork and proper fulfilment of our wishes with beautiful design proposals and furnishing ideas by Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture, leaving us to enjoy our newly furnished hallways.
