Gispen stands for sustainable design. We create environments that have a positive influence on people. We encourage others to handle resources responsibly, and we have been doing so for over 100 years. Let’s shape the future together.
Gispen has been producing sustainable designs for over 100 years. Sturdiness you can build on and which can be extended and adapted again and again as trends and requirements change. We don’t think in terms of new. We think about the future, and we have been doing so for over a century. For organisations, companies, educational institutions and hospitals that, like us, care about the future generations.
In 1916, Gispen was founded by Willem Hendrik Gispen. Often abbreviated to W.H. Gispen. Willem Hendrik Gispen lived from 1890 to 1981. After completing his studies, he became a designer at a factory for decorative wrought iron in Rotterdam, also called an art forge. The entrepreneur in him was calling and in 1916 he took over the factory and renamed it the W.H. Gispen & Co Art Forge, located at the Voorhaven in Rotterdam.
Innovative design and production, clever reuse and value retention are important guiding principles to us. We develop new products according to the principles of the Gispen Circular Design Criteria. Long lifecycles of products, components and materials are realised due to high-level reuse. We aim to refurbish our products for a second lease of remanufacture them to fulfil a new function. We can ensure your furniture keeps its value by means of clever procurement and furniture management.
CIRCULAR ENTREPRENEURSHIP PUTS AN END TO INCREASING POLLUTION, STOPS THE EXPLOITATION OF VALUABLE AREAS AND REDUCES GLOBAL SOCIAL INEQUALITY.
For us, CSR means dealing responsibly with People, Planet & Profit. It's not just words. Would you like to learn more about our standards and business operations?
"Gispen takes its social responsibilities seriously. While doing so we not only think of today, tomorrow or next week. We mostly think about the future. This means that we need to ensure there are enough resources left for the next generation. Resources that can not only produce existing products but new products as well."
"It would be great if there would be sufficient resources left for my children."
