A learning and working environment that ties in with school-wide thematic education and a positive school climate

De Lichtkring is a primary school in Zuidlaren, Netherlands where children are educated for the present and the future from a Christian ethos. The basic principle is that the children feel safe and that they learn how to treat each other respectfully and responsibly.

The interior design

The interior of De Lichtkring has been furnished in a clever and practical way. Everything is close at hand in this safe environment where both the children and staff feel at home. The workshop trolley and Inline Multi cabinets with drawers are perfect for playing and learning while providing easy access to toys and drawing supplies. The Inline cabinets have the advantage of being modular, allowing you to build the ideal cabinet wall. They will match the interior of any room with components that will suit any activity. The study plazas within the round open-plan spaces are perfect for group assignments with comfortable coach seats and round Robbie hockers. The Match Classic benches are used by the first and second graders to gather around in a circle. The classrooms have a group-setup design, featuring an instruction table with a friendly-looking and organically-shaped top and comfortable seating around it for both the pupils and the teacher.

The educational vision

De Lichtkring provides thematic education because children are curious and love to learn. The teachers let children explore themes that fit their age and development phase. The first and second graders learn mainly through play. The children are also taught various presentation and digital skills. The pupils are challenged to develop optimally and use instructional skills to do so. The climate from which all this is offered is very positive.

The client’s thoughts

'Our main request for Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture was to make the interior of our new building match our work method and educational vision.

They took on the assignment and shared their expertise where possible, always looking for improvements to perfect the furnishing plan.

The design process is where the added value of Gispen Presikhaaf School furniture truly became apparent: there were lots of options and custom solutions to fulfill our wishes and requests with. There was an idea and solution for everything.

Thus, we are very happy and satisfied with our new interior, from which the colours and virtues further enhance the building as a whole.'
