Project De Burcht primary school – Gispen – Presikhaaf School Furniture

You can be who you want to be at De Burcht primary school! Where a healthy and secure foundation is provided. In addition to learning basic skills such as language, maths and reading, pupils discover what their talents are and how to develop and use them.

Using the same space for various activities

Learning through play – Gathering around the circle – Using the same space for various activities. This was made possible for the first and second-graders by the Multi Cabinet furniture solution, among other things, which allows teachers to discuss different themes with their pupils. The Match benches with roll-out trays are ideal for socialising with the children while gathered in a circle. Crafts and cooperative learning take place using the chalkboard, drawing board or at the group tables, of which some are even height adjustable. The Discovery table encourages playful discovery with sand, water and light. And, lastly, along the walls there are modular Inline cabinets for storage of teaching materials.

THE HALL

The junior years' hall is home to playshops and puppet theatres, which are true eye-catchers for the children to play with. The children can sit in front of the puppet theatres on playful round cushions to watch the show. There is also a group table with tabourets in this area for children to play a game or do crafts together. The hall upstairs makes clever use of its space by allowing pupils to sit along the sides of the room as well.

THE CLASSROOMS

The classrooms for the three to eighth graders encourage autonomous, mobile and group learning. Again, pupils can choose to sit or stand at height-adjustable student desks. At the instruction table, they can receive personal or plenary instructions.

ADDITIONAL ROOMS

The RT/IB room and the administrative rooms have been furnished with a matching design.

The team room exudes cosiness and tranquillity. Staff can choose to sit low or high or settle down on one of the comfortable sofas. The room is also fitted with plants and smart wall attributes.

THE CLIENT’S THOUGHTS

A matching collection of furniture for all grades, light colours that are in line with our new interior colours as well as wooden furniture with a long warranty, equipped with good floor glides to protect the new floors. With ample possibilities to easily adapt the group layout should our needs change in the future. These were the key requirements defined in our call for tender published through our CPOV foundation.

The furniture selection was based on several criteria. Value for money, of course, but also sustainability and Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture's corporate philosophy: they employ a significant number of people who are at a disadvantage in the labour market. Moreover, they are the only one in their sector to be PSO30+ certified. But the fact that Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture opted for wooden furniture was also important to us. Another strong point was that some of our old furniture could be reused.

The short lines of communication between us and the staff at Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture, their input in the preliminary stages of the project and their afterservice were of great added value. It usually takes some time to deal with every last bottleneck, but Gispen Presikhaaf School Furniture always makes sure we are completely satisfied.

The end result has turned out nicely: for the first time in years, we have a matching collection of furniture inside our school.
