This is how we deal with waste and residual flows

Every year, we produce an average of 2,565 tonnes of waste, mainly wood (34%) and steel (31%) waste. Through a closed take-back system with our suppliers, we have significantly reduced wood waste in recent years. Wood waste is now, in collaboration with our suppliers, directly recycled into new chipboard. We transport steel scrap, especially from our metal hubs, for recycling. We continuously invest in waste management so that we can add value to waste, avoid hazardous waste and reduce waste incineration.

We make the biggest impact by working well with our suppliers and working together on closed cycles. That's how we did it in our Wood Hub in the Czech Republic. For example, we now process all the wood waste in this production location into chipboard, for example.

We work together with various partners to make our waste valuable. For example, i-did makes recycled felt from old textiles. We use them to cover acoustic screens, for example. This social enterprise helps the long-term unemployed find work and reuses 30,478 kg of textiles (in 2022 and 2023). Vanhulley is a social enterprise that makes new products from residual textiles, such as bags. The company helps women with a distance to the labor market to find work.
