This is how we use water responsibly

All our production facilities consume water. Most of the water is needed for our metal hubs in the Netherlands and China. We use surface water and tap water for our processes. Water management and water conservation have always been top priorities. We therefore have a closed-loop water system in all our production locations. As a result, our water consumption is very low. Partly thanks to investments, we used 44.5% less water. We neutralize wastewater through a filter system before it is disposed of as wastewater. We regularly have the quality of these independently tested for the presence of harmful substances to prevent water pollution.

This is how we deal with energy

To make our energy consumption more sustainable, we follow two strategies: reduction and the generation and procurement of renewable energy. Our machinery primarily relies on electricity, while gas is used to heat the ovens for coating metal components. We reduce energy consumption by improving production processes, thereby requiring less gas and electricity. In recent years, we have also consolidated production locations and decommissioned older machinery.

A portion of the energy we use is generated in-house with solar panels. Additionally, we purchase local renewable energy, such as power from Dutch wind turbines. Over the coming years, we plan to equip all production facilities with solar energy. These initiatives support our strategy to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.

As little as possible packaging materials

We pack our products with a minimum of packaging material. For example, with recyclable blankets, wooden pallets, recycled cardboard and recycled LDPE film. With a take-back system for our packaging, we ensure reuse. That is why we prefer not to use staples, glue or tape in our packaging, so that they are more reusable. In addition, we continuously evaluate and revise our packaging concepts. For example, we have adapted our Gispen ZINN Smart packaging: we have replaced the plastic inserts, sleeves and tape with a 100% cardboard packaging, including paper tape.
